PROSPECT is a three-part exhibition series featuring the work of artists in curator Paola Cabal’s Professional Practices course at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Still images that feel culled from longer, more comprehensive stories characterize the works in this exhibition, as each piece makes us wonder what happened immediately before the scenes we see registered here and what is about to take place next. The artists included each offer a temporal specificity that belies the degree to which their implicit narratives can be accessed; the resulting disorientation directs us back to our own intuitive reserves as we formulate responses to the pieces on view.
